Key Takeaways

  • 75% of U.S. employers use automated applicant tracking systems to screen resumes before a human reviews them (Harvard Business School & Accenture, 2021)
  • The most common ATS failures are missing keywords, incompatible formatting, and incorrect file types
  • ResumeGeni scores your resume across 8 parsing layers — modeled on the same steps enterprise ATS platforms like Workday, Greenhouse, and Taleo use to evaluate candidates

How ATS Resume Scoring Works

Applicant tracking systems parse your resume into structured data — extracting your name, contact info, work history, skills, and education — then score how well that data matches the job requirements. Many ATS rejections happen because the parser couldn't extract critical fields, not because the candidate wasn't qualified.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is ResumeGeni free?
Yes. ResumeGeni is currently in beta — ATS analysis, scoring, and initial improvement suggestions are free with no signup required. Full guidance and saved reports may require a free account.
What file formats are supported?
PDF, DOCX, DOC, TXT, RTF, ODT, and Apple Pages. PDF and DOCX are recommended for best ATS compatibility.
How is the ATS score calculated?
Your resume is processed through an 8-layer parsing pipeline that extracts structured data the same way enterprise ATS platforms do. The score reflects how completely and accurately your resume can be parsed, plus how well your content matches common ATS ranking criteria.
Can ATS read PDF resumes?
Yes, but not all PDFs are equal. Text-based PDFs parse well. Image-only PDFs (scanned documents) and PDFs with complex tables or multi-column layouts often fail ATS parsing. Our analyzer will flag these issues.
How do I improve my ATS score?
Focus on three areas: use a clean single-column format, include keywords from the job description naturally in your experience bullets, and ensure all sections (contact, experience, education, skills) use standard headings.

In recent years, Double Good has seen 40% year over year growth, and we’re excited about our future! We’re excited about the possibility of you joining our mission. We are looking for a Data Product Manager to join our growing Data and Analytics team.

Location - this role is hybrid and can be based out of our downtown Chicago or Elmhurst office

About the role:

The Data Product Manager is responsible for owning the prioritization and iterative delivery of data products within DoubleGood's DNA (Data & Analytics) group. This role bridges the gap between business strategy and technical execution — translating high-level priorities into well-scoped, actionable requirements while driving an iterative approach to data product development that maximizes impact and keeps teams focused on what matters most.

Responsibilities

  • Own the DNA product backlog — maintain and continuously prioritize a backlog of data and analytical initiatives based on business impact, stakeholder needs, and technical feasibility; serve as the single point of accountability for what gets worked on and when.
  • Apply iterative product thinking — champion a crawl-walk-run approach to data product delivery, breaking work into phased increments that deliver value early and reduce risk.
  • Translate strategy into requirements — partner with business-side stakeholders (Marketing, Finance, Operations, etc.) to gather and document detailed business logic, data definitions, and acceptance criteria for analytics and BI engineering teams.
  • Drive stakeholder alignment — act as the primary liaison between business partners and technical teams, ensuring priorities are clearly communicated, well-understood, and consistently reflected in execution.
  • Define and track success metrics — establish measurable outcomes for each data product (adoption, usage, business impact) and hold the team accountable to them.
  • Manage UAT and validation — own business-facing acceptance testing, ensuring delivered data products meet stakeholder expectations and can be trusted by the business.
  • Identify and communicate tradeoffs — surface scope, dependency, and prioritization tradeoffs proactively, enabling leadership to make faster, better-informed decisions.

Experience & Skills we value:

Required:

  • 8+ years in a product management, business analysis, or data product role — ideally in a data-intensive environment
  • Demonstrated experience owning and managing a product backlog with competing priorities across multiple stakeholders
  • Strong understanding of data modeling concepts, BI tools, and modern data stacks (e.g., Snowflake, dbt, Looker or similar)
  • Proven ability to translate complex business problems into clear, actionable technical requirements
  • Experience applying agile/iterative delivery methodologies (sprint planning, acceptance criteria, incremental releases)
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills — comfortable working across technical and non-technical audiences

Nice to have and/or you’ll learn:

  • Experience in a high-growth or startup environment where priorities shift frequently and speed of delivery matters
  • Familiarity with data governance principles and documentation best practices
  • Background in finance, operations, or a domain-heavy vertical where deep business logic expertise is required
  • Experience working with analytics engineering teams (dbt, semantic layer, OBTs)
  • Exposure to ERP systems (e.g., D365) or manufacturing/operations data
