Key Takeaways

  • 75% of U.S. employers use automated applicant tracking systems to screen resumes before a human reviews them (Harvard Business School & Accenture, 2021)
  • The most common ATS failures are missing keywords, incompatible formatting, and incorrect file types
  • ResumeGeni scores your resume across 8 parsing layers — modeled on the same steps enterprise ATS platforms like Workday, Greenhouse, and Taleo use to evaluate candidates

How ATS Resume Scoring Works

Applicant tracking systems parse your resume into structured data — extracting your name, contact info, work history, skills, and education — then score how well that data matches the job requirements. Many ATS rejections happen because the parser couldn't extract critical fields, not because the candidate wasn't qualified.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is ResumeGeni free?
Yes. ResumeGeni is currently in beta — ATS analysis, scoring, and initial improvement suggestions are free with no signup required. Full guidance and saved reports may require a free account.
What file formats are supported?
PDF, DOCX, DOC, TXT, RTF, ODT, and Apple Pages. PDF and DOCX are recommended for best ATS compatibility.
How is the ATS score calculated?
Your resume is processed through an 8-layer parsing pipeline that extracts structured data the same way enterprise ATS platforms do. The score reflects how completely and accurately your resume can be parsed, plus how well your content matches common ATS ranking criteria.
Can ATS read PDF resumes?
Yes, but not all PDFs are equal. Text-based PDFs parse well. Image-only PDFs (scanned documents) and PDFs with complex tables or multi-column layouts often fail ATS parsing. Our analyzer will flag these issues.
How do I improve my ATS score?
Focus on three areas: use a clean single-column format, include keywords from the job description naturally in your experience bullets, and ensure all sections (contact, experience, education, skills) use standard headings.

Office Operations Manager

Crookedmedia · Los Angeles, CA

At Crooked, we believe the answer to a rising authoritarian movement is a democratic movement powerful enough to fight it and (fingers crossed) defeat it. That means using all the tools at our disposal as a media company to help build a massive, diverse coalition united behind a core set of democratic values: freedom, equality, compassion, and the rule of law.

Job Summary:

Crooked is hiring for an Office Operations Manager in the Operations department, reporting to the SVP of People & Culture. This role will focus on ensuring our employees have a best-in-class experience at Crooked, both for our in-office and remote staff. You’ll take care of everything from greeting our new hires and getting them situated to planning events to fixing a leaky faucet and managing various projects. The ideal candidate is highly organized, adaptive, and diligent in seeking solutions. You are also friendly, responsive, and can seamlessly switch between liaising with our building management, troubleshooting IT issues, and ordering supplies. No day is the same, but you thrive in this kind of work while being the friendly face that staff can go to when they need help!

This role is based out of our Los Angeles office, Monday through Friday. We are looking for Los Angeles based candidates.

How You’ll Spend Your Time:

Office, IT, and Facilities Management

  • Oversee all facilities functions, including vendor management, maintenance requests, kitchen and office supply ordering, and liaise with our building management on all requests.
  • Manage company IT, including basic troubleshooting, vendor and contractor management, and longer-form IT projects. You’ll manage our inventory, software access, and equipment ordering.
  • Ensure our offices operate smoothly by maintaining office cleanliness, managing meeting room bookings, office supply ordering, and inventory (including lunch, snacks/kitchen, and office supplies).
  • Coordinate with our remote staff on any travel to the office.
  • Receive and sort incoming mail and deliveries, and manage outgoing mail.
  • Lead on office layout planning, reconfiguring any time we need to move, updating furniture, and flow of the space to best suit our needs.

Operations, Communications & Project Management

  • Work with Finance, People & Culture, and IT vendors to ensure we’re compliant across the board with various policies and legislative changes.
  • Monitor company email inboxes (privacy, hey, etc.) and route emails to appropriate departments.
  • Collaborate with People & Culture to maintain the company portal with accurate information and how-tos.
  • Work with our Travel Agent to book travel for our incoming remote staff and other visitors.
  • Take on seasonal projects, such as kitchen/supply audits, inventory checks, and internal event planning.

Employee Experience & Culture

  • Work closely with the People & Culture team to create an engaging and helpful culture and experience for all employees (in office and remote).
  • Participate in onboarding our new hires and providing them a warm and easy transition into their new role by informing and equipping them with the tools and hardware they need to do their job.
  • Help the People & Culture team execute on any events or employee initiatives.
  • Manage and further develop employee recognition, committees, and gifting programs, including Anniversary Recognition and holiday gifting.

What You’ll Bring To The Table:

  • 5+ years of experience managing an office or a range of offices for a modern, fun company. You know the vendors, systems, and tools out there to make running an office and managing IT look seamless because you’ve done this before.
  • You take pride in cultivating a vibe and know how to make working in an office enjoyable while staying on budget.
  • You are both responsible, responsive, and warm. People gravitate to you because you’re welcoming, and you also follow through on your commitments.
  • Curiosity and a strong desire to always iterate and make things better. You consume the latest and greatest in your craft, but balance that with knowing what works and when you can try something new.
  • Strong knowledge of the internet and various platforms like Google (Admin, Mail, Sheets, etc.), Slack, Trello, Asana, and Microsoft Office. Big plus if you know how to use tools like JAMF and Apple Business Manager, Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software
  • You can lift (50+ pounds minimum)
  • A valid Driver’s License and current auto insurance are required
