Key Takeaways

  • 75% of U.S. employers use automated applicant tracking systems to screen resumes before a human reviews them (Harvard Business School & Accenture, 2021)
  • The most common ATS failures are missing keywords, incompatible formatting, and incorrect file types
  • ResumeGeni scores your resume across 8 parsing layers — modeled on the same steps enterprise ATS platforms like Workday, Greenhouse, and Taleo use to evaluate candidates

How ATS Resume Scoring Works

Applicant tracking systems parse your resume into structured data — extracting your name, contact info, work history, skills, and education — then score how well that data matches the job requirements. Many ATS rejections happen because the parser couldn't extract critical fields, not because the candidate wasn't qualified.

LayerWhat It ChecksWhy It Matters
Document extractionFile format, encoding, readabilityCorrupted or image-only PDFs fail immediately
Layout analysisTables, columns, headers, footersMulti-column layouts break field extraction
Section detectionExperience, education, skills headingsNon-standard headings cause sections to be missed
Field mappingName, email, phone, dates, titlesMissing contact info is a common cause of immediate rejection
Keyword matchingJob-specific terms, skills, certificationsKeyword overlap affects recruiter search visibility and ATS scoring
Chronology checkDate ordering, gap detectionReverse-chronological order is expected by most ATS
QuantificationMetrics, numbers, measurable outcomesQuantified achievements help human reviewers and some scoring models
Confidence scoringOverall parse quality and completenessLow-confidence parses get deprioritized in results

Frequently Asked Questions

Is ResumeGeni free?
Yes. ResumeGeni is currently in beta — ATS analysis, scoring, and initial improvement suggestions are free with no signup required. Full guidance and saved reports may require a free account.
What file formats are supported?
PDF, DOCX, DOC, TXT, RTF, ODT, and Apple Pages. PDF and DOCX are recommended for best ATS compatibility.
How is the ATS score calculated?
Your resume is processed through an 8-layer parsing pipeline that extracts structured data the same way enterprise ATS platforms do. The score reflects how completely and accurately your resume can be parsed, plus how well your content matches common ATS ranking criteria.
Can ATS read PDF resumes?
Yes, but not all PDFs are equal. Text-based PDFs parse well. Image-only PDFs (scanned documents) and PDFs with complex tables or multi-column layouts often fail ATS parsing. Our analyzer will flag these issues.
How do I improve my ATS score?
Focus on three areas: use a clean single-column format, include keywords from the job description naturally in your experience bullets, and ensure all sections (contact, experience, education, skills) use standard headings.

Inventory & Supply Planner

Bloomon · London

Hi, we’re Bloom & Wild. We don’t just send flowers. We help our customers to care wildly. Caring wildly is celebrating the little things we all do for each other every day. Not just the big occasions. It’s being there for the highs. Stepping up for the lows.

We care wildly about people and our planet. Which is why we’re so proud to be a certified B Corp™ – committed to making long-term positive change for our community, and the world around us.

Founded in 2013, our mission back then was to make sending and receiving flowers the joy that it should be, by harnessing technology, brand and letterbox delivery. We announced £75 million Series D funding in 2021 and that same year acquired bloomon in The Netherlands and Bergamotte in France. Together, we’ve fulfilled and delivered over 20 million orders (and counting!), making us the largest direct to consumer flower business in Europe.

Now home to a family of 3 beautiful brands, we’re driven by our vision to create the destination for making life a little more thoughtful and beautiful. And we won't stop at flowers and plants. Starting with the Bloom & Wild brand, we're expanding our gifting offering to other categories like cakes, candles and cocktails. This is all part of our ambition to build Europe's #1 direct to consumer gifting destination.

🛠️ Operations Team @ Bloom & Wild Group

The Operations team at bloomon and Bloom & Wild is split into two sub-teams, although in practice there is a close collaboration between all these sub-teams on a daily basis:

  1. Production and supply chain - centralized around our two main warehouses near Amsterdam and Birmingham the teams run our sourcing, supply chain, production and fulfilment operation. They cover the full range of products we process in our own warehouses: flowers, plants, gifts, food & drinks, packaging material and much more. They optimise for customer satisfaction, On Time-In Full fulfilment, quality and associated COGS.

  2. Fulfilment and Customer Operations - managing our partially outsourced sourcing, production and fulfilment in the UK, optimising our delivery organisation in all countries we are active in and servicing our customers with the Customer Delight team. The team works closely with our partners to achieve operational excellence and optimise for quality and customer satisfaction, delivery performance, capacity and associated COGS.

As part of the ‘Production and Supply chain’ domain, the Central operations planning team is the oil in the machine of our full end-to-end supply chain. In order to ensure an optimal production and fulfilment process in our warehouses, your team is in the middle between the forecasting team, the sourcing teams, the commercial country teams, logistics and the warehouse teams. By understanding the different and opposing needs of all teams, you navigate to optimise for maximum availability of our products to sell, and minimise wastage on our fresh products. By means of your coordination we unlock and utilise the maximum flexibility in our supply chain, in the most efficient way.

You will work alongside our Lead supply planner, who is responsible for our peak planning as well as overseeing our team’s operational coordination, and our planning manager, who currently looks after our flower and plants planning. The role you are applying for is a new role to cater for our growing range of our non-horticulatural products, such as non-flower gifts but also vases and pots, where you’ll be responsible for the end to end planning and digital inventory management.

To excel in this role you need a strong analytical mindset, great Excel and AI automation skills, and to pride yourself in being a meticulous executor and a rockstar in prioritisation. If this sounds like you, keep on reading!
