AFRY Management Consulting is looking to hire a Senior Consultant to support the growth of its consulting activities in Colombia and Latin America

AFRY Management Consulting has already successfully entered this geography under the lead of AFRY Management Consulting’s office in Madrid, Spain.  In particular through the sound modelling of its electricity markets, and has been advising a number of investors in renewable energy or in energy networks to help them develop their businesses; the next step of this development is now to reinforce our local presence to gather local insights in the market, enhance our visibility in the region and accelerate our growth, in line with global AFRY group’s objective. The Senior Consultant will have the following responsibilities and duties:

  1. Keep up to date with the market regulation development and dynamics ensuring an accurate implementation of relevant variables in our market modelling.
  2. Participate in the development of our offering by developing complex quantitative and qualitative analyses.
  3. Participate in Colombia and Latin America projects (Due Diligence, valuations, market design, etc.).
  4. Assume significant responsibility in project management, including planning, coordination, and monitoring as part of daily work.
  5. Deliver presentations that convey information clearly, concisely, accurately and in ways which maximize impact.
  6. Support the commercial effort by participating in conferences, preparing proposals in line with RFPs and liaising with potential clients.
  7. Comply with AFRY’s Code of Conduct and other policies.
  • MSc or equivalent, MBA, PhD in an engineering, financial or economic field.
  • 10 years of working experience in colombian energy market in consulting, in a utility or independent power producer.
  • Deep Knowledge of energy market regulation, market dynamics and with key focus in Colombia.
  • Strong understanding of the energy business, economics and financial modelling review capabilities
  • Advanced analytical and quantitative skills. We undertake a lot of complex analysis, a good proportion of which is numerical, so we are looking for people with an aptitude for complex quantitative and qualitative analysis, statistics, manipulation of large data and diverse mathematical models. This includes the ability to pay attention to detail and use MS Excel proficiently, understanding programming logic, and creative problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent teamwork and social skills. Virtually all the work we do requires team working so if you have good communication skills and the ability to work well with others within a project team and wider office environment you will fit well. This involves organization discipline, flexibility, and respecting commitments. 
  • Being fluent in Spanish and English. On the one hand our clients are located in Spanish and non-Spanish speaking countries, and on the other hand our work requires day-to-day collaboration – in English – with other AFRY offices.
  • Writing and communication skills. Report-writing and presenting in public is a core part of our work, therefore we are also looking for the ability to explain complex information in a clear and logical way in English, both in writing and orally.
  • Proactivity and responsibility. You will be working in a commercial environment against budgets and deadlines so you will need to be able to think for yourself, be proactive and have a business-oriented mindset.
  • Passion for energy markets and policies. You have an understanding of electricity or gas market dynamics, sustainability challenges, and energy policies. 
  • Programming skills. Knowledge on programming languages (e.g. Visual Basic, GAMS, Mosel, Python) will be highly valued.
